Thanks for stopping by to learn more about my practice. I’m Debonee Morgan, a licensed psychotherapist, specializing with the LGBTQ community, sex therapy, and faith issues… all with an artist, imaginative approach.
Serving the LGBTQ Community
Most of my clients identify as gay, lesbian, bi, trans* or genderqueer. I’m familiar with the unique issues that come along with same sex relationships, working through your gender identity or orientation, the coming out process, dealing with family and work environments etc. You can learn more about the specifics here: Serving the LGBTQ Community
It’s not easy to talk about sex, especially with a partner you don’t want to lose. As a sex therapist, I work to create an environment that creates a safe place to explore sensitive issues with couples, or individuals. I really believe in complexity, that most issues aren’t black and white, and sex is no exception. Sometimes it’s about intimacy, sometimes it’s about creating distance, and sometimes it’s about allowing ourselves to ‘go there’. In every case, you’ll want to talk it through with someone you’re comfortable with; someone who gets it. You can learn more about the specifics here: Sex Therapy
When you’re talking about gender, orientation, or even just sex, you’re bound to butt up against issues about religion and the (often bullshit) things we’re told about Godde and ourselves. Many of my clients have been hurt by the church. As a certified Spiritual Director (like a minister, but not attached to a particular faith tradition, and very happy to talk to atheists), I have the background to approach ideas and feelings about religion, theology, cosmology, philosophy etc from an informed, but neutral, position. I don’t believe I know what’s right for *you*, but I believe that *you* know, and I’m here to support that. You can learn more about the specifics here: Faith Issues
I find most of the inspiration for the way I do therapy from Carl Jung. He was a psychological theorist who pioneered the use of symbols and imagery to help us learn more about ourselves, especially through interaction with the unconscious. In addition to standard ‘talk therapy’ and thinking of relationships in a systemic context, I encourage clients to use their imaginations to access emotion, revision relationships, learn more about themselves, and nurture growth. If you are ready to talk to someone about your hopes and intentions to make things better, the I’m Ready page will spell out what to do next.
