So sorry, but Debonee is not taking new clients at this time.
DEBONEE'S PRACTICE
Thanks for stopping by to learn more about my practice. I’m Debonee Morgan, a licensed psychotherapist, and certified Spiritual Director, specializing with the LGBTQ+ community, addiction & recovery, depression, and faith issues… all with an artistic, imaginative approach. I identify as female and use "she/her" pronouns.
Serving the LGBTQ+ Community Many of my clients identify as gay, lesbian, bi, trans or non-binary/genderqueer. I’m familiar with the unique issues that come along with same sex relationships, working through your gender identity or orientation, the coming out process, transgender transitioning, dealing with family and work environments etc. You can learn more about the specifics here: Serving the LGBTQ+ Community
Addiction & Recovery My experience includes work at Care and Counseling’s Intensive Outpatient Program and Black Bear Lodge residential treatment program. I have led "Spirituality in Recovery", "Family Education" and "LGBTQ+ Issues in Recovery" groups, as well as conducting individual, couples and family therapy for those in recovery. You can learn more about the specifics here: Addiction & Recovery
Faith Issues & Spiritual Direction When you’re talking about gender, orientation, or even just sex, you’re bound to butt up against issues about religion and the (sometimes wounding) things we’re told about God and ourselves. Many of my clients have been hurt by the church. As a certified Spiritual Director (like a minister, but not attached to a particular faith tradition, and very happy to talk to atheists), I have the background to approach ideas and feelings about religion, theology, cosmology, philosophy etc from an informed, but neutral, position. I don’t believe I know what’s right for *you*, but I believe that *you* know, and I’m here to support that. You can learn more about the specifics of integrating spirituality with therapy here: Faith Issues If you'd like to focus on spiritual issues only, click here to learn more about Spiritual Direction.
Artistic Approach I find most of my inspiration from Carl Jung. He was a psychological theorist who pioneered the use of symbols and imagery to help us learn more about ourselves, especially through interaction with the unconscious. In addition to standard ‘talk therapy’ and thinking of relationships in a systemic context, I encourage clients to use their imaginations to access emotion, revision relationships, learn more about themselves, and nurture growth.
